Food for Thought

Posted June 25th, 2010 in Faith by Clay Harting

Hey guys sorry its been so long. I have been having some computer trouble. Also been getting things ready for recording the next CD. anyway thanxs for hanging in there guys.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

To many times I hear good Christian people tell me that they are searching to hear from God but just can’t. Their prayers aren’t answered (in their time), they just can’t hear or find Him. Well I read this quote the other day and it has really stayed with me. “God is searching for true worshipers. If you can’t find Him maybe you should stop and try to truly worship Him, and maybe He will find you.”

I leave you with that thought

Faith

Posted May 13th, 2010 in Faith by clay

Remember in Mathew when Jesus asked Peter to step out of the boat, on to the water? Aren’t we just like Matthew sometimes?  We hear Jesus speaking to us but we worry about the wind and the rain and waves.  Why can’t we just focus in on the voice of the Savior and walk? Why do we always have to try to be cautious?

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” – Matthew 8:26-27

Because that is our human nature. To account for every possible hazard that could arise only then will we step out of the boat.  But that’s not what God wants.  God wants us to trust Him completely. He has already accounted for every hazard that could arise.  He is really the only measure that we need to worry about. If God calls you to go. Walk by faith and go.

A line from one of my favorite songs goes like this:

There on the storm I am learning to let go of the will that I so long to control” – Calmer of the Storms by Downhere

Let go. Don’t worry about the wind and waves. Jesus Christ is calling you and He will take care of you.

HOLD ON LOOSELY

Posted May 6th, 2010 in Faith by clay

That’s right finally a devotion geared from a southern rock classic.

Hold strong to the things that will last for eternity.

I would say that I am about a 70 -30 on this.  I spend 70% of my time working and living in this life with all of its joys.  I spend 30% of my time serving Christ and studying His word.  Why is that?  Why can we spend hours watching pointless TV or video games or shopping or anything I have left out, but when church runs over on a Sunday morning we are up in arms?

The things of this world will all pass away. TV, cars, our toys, games, jobs, the Internet. All this matters to us way to much. It should be our relationship with God and spending all the time we can with our families. Why is that so hard? Hold strong to the things that will last for eternity.  God is all of our futures basically in the end. Should we not be putting time in to that?

Hold on loosely but don’t let go. If you cling to tightly your gonna lose control.  Strong words but oh so true  of this world.

The Second Coming

Posted May 5th, 2010 in Faith by clay

Devotion this morning was on The Second Coming.  What do you think Jesus was saying when He said that there will be signs, however no man can know the Time or Day. Kind of confusing don’t you think?  I believe that Jesus wanted us to be able to recognize the signs and be ready.  But I also believe He does not want us to know the exact time or worry that is is drawing near.

Jesus said all these things because He wanted us to prepare but not worry over it forever. He still wants us to live a full and happy life serving and praising Him.  So I guess I’m gonna take my own advice and be prepared to meet my loving Lord and Savior but not worry about when that time will come.

A footnote: I played a Revival last weekend and it went awesome! God really used the music. Praise God!  Speaker was Craig Cook also awesome. Look him up if you have time.

Fear

Posted April 30th, 2010 in Faith by clay

I have never been much on reading Revalations. I have always used the excuse that it just freaks me out, but my devotion today was on just that fear. God does talk in the book about wars, and fighting, and tribulation. But have you ever noticed that He never says when it will come? Why is that? Because we are not meant to fear but have faith. God’s word tells us these things will happen but that our Faith will overcome the fear. Lets not fear the end times but have faith that what God says is true.  Sure there is going to be hard times but HE will be right there with us through it all. And all to the Glory of His eternal Kingdom.

Give it Away

Posted April 21st, 2010 in Faith by clay

Hey Guys

Just been thinking a lot about our sin. Why is it that we can say we give it away to Jesus but we never really do.  Jesus said in scripture that we are forgiven yet for us that’s not enough?  Sure we try to leave it at the cross but we always seem to keep a little part for ourselves don’t we?  Our sin is like saying to Jesus “I’ll give you this but I can’t give you this one.”  Lets lay It Down once and for all.

We are forgiven. God knows what you did, or what your doing and He has already forgiven you for it. Repent ask for His forgiveness and Leave it alone.  Food For thought

Ladder to Heaven

Posted April 15th, 2010 in Faith by clay

Hey

I read an awesome quote in my devotion this morning. By Thomas Drake.  ” The Cross Is The Ladder To Heaven”. Now that’s pretty cool. I stopped and thought about and you know it really is.  Scripture teaches that no man goes to the father except through Christ who DIED ON THE CROSS. We are also told to PICK UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW CHRIST. The CROSS is also where we need to lay our burdens down, and get rid of our sin be washed whiter than snow.    All of this is important in our Christian Walk. Which in turn ensures our eternal home in Heaven. Cool huh. So the cross is our ladder to Heaven. Its the only hope that we have.  Thanks for listening to me ramble.
